Krampus & Salzburg Traditions

Krampus is a traditional figure of Alpine folklore, accompanying Saint Nicholas in early December. Wearing elaborately carved masks, fur costumes and heavy bells, Krampus groups parade through villages and towns. Traditional parades in and around Salzburg offer a fascinating glimpse into this centuries old Advent custom.
