Vienna State Opera

The Vienna State Opera is among the world’s most famous opera houses and is located just a few meters from the main entrance of the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. Once founded as the court’s opera, or “Wiener Hofoper,” by the Habsburgs, the Vienna State Opera first opened its doors in 1869 with a premiere of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and continues to be a magnet for opera fans from all over the world.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC IN VIENNA

Each season offers nightly opportunities to experience some of the greatest operatic works ever composed. Around 350 performances of over 60 different operas and ballets grace the stage of Vienna’s premiere opera house each year. In addition, each February the Vienna State Opera transforms into the city’s most famous and glamorous ballroom for a single night. Over 5,000 visitors enjoy this most royal of celebrations as gowns and tailcoats waltz the night away.

On the occasion of the Vienna Opera Ball, the Hotel Sacher Vienna hosts an exclusive gala dinner. Kick off your sparkling ball night in the most special culinary way!
