Exclusive Sacher fragrance by star perfumer Pauline Rochas

Together with the French star perfumer Pauline Rochas, Sacher co-owner Alexandra Winkler has developed the signature scent that defines the Hotel Sacher. Just in time for World Fragrance Day, the exclusive "Magic of Scent" is now also available as a scented candle for home and as a gift.

The magic of scent

A fragrance can take us to a place, a time and a feeling. It awakens existing memories and creates new ones at the same time. Alexandra Winkler, co-owner of Sacher, and Pauline Rochas, star perfumer from France, have worked closely together to develop a fragrance that captures the magical world of Sacher.

“We always perceive our environment with all our senses – whether travelling or at home. Fragrances carry a strong message. It is therefore important to me to give Sacher its own scent,” says Sacher co-owner Alexandra Winkler, explaining the idea behind the new Sacher signature scent. “With our new candle, it is now possible to bring this unique scent home, close your eyes and imagine you are at Sacher.”

A fragrance that enchants

The inspiration for the fragrance was the Hotel Sacher itself: magical flair, unique interior and the comforting feeling of being at home. In French perfumer Pauline Rochas, Alexandra Winkler found the ideal partner to capture the magic of the Sacher in a custom-made fragrance.

“When I create a fragrance, it’s very intuitive. I feel the mood, look at the aesthetics. When I entered the hotel and talked to Alexandra, I knew exactly what the fragrance had to embody: something brave, something sophisticated, something luxurious,” Pauline Rochas reveals about the creation of the scented candle in classic Sacher red.

Sacher magic for home

A symphony of exotic patchouli, warm cypriol, sandalwood, noble Madagascar vanilla and cinnamon create a pleasant atmosphere in any room.
