Accessibility Statement for sacher.com

Sacher Hotels Betriebsgesellschaft mbH is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, in accordance with the Web Accessibility Act (WZG BGBl. I. No. 59/2019 idgF).

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://www.sacher.com and all associated mobile versions and subpages.

Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with Conformance Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1 and the European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03), pursuant to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council. Partial compliance is due to the non-accessible content and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible Content

1. Non-compliance with accessibility regulations

PDFs:

  • Some of our restaurant menus, currently provided in PDF format, may not fully meet accessibility best practices. These documents may lack structured tagging, alternative text for images, and semantic elements needed for optimal use with screen readers or other assistive technologies. We are in the process of reviewing and updating these PDFs to improve their accessibility in the short term. In parallel, we are evaluating solutions that would allow us to present menu content directly on the website, which would provide a more inclusive and user-friendly experience going forward.

Virtual tour:

  • The 360° virtual tour integrated on our website currently presents accessibility limitations. Full keyboard navigation is not supported, interactive elements are not compatible with screen readers, and motion settings can only be adjusted via mouse. These limitations are due to the technical framework of the current implementation. While improvements are not available at this time, we acknowledge this barrier and are exploring ways to offer alternative, accessible content to ensure that the tour experience remains inclusive.

Pop-ups:

  • Some interactive elements currently do not fully meet accessibility standards. Certain frames do not include a descriptive title attribute, which may limit clarity for users relying on screen readers. We are reviewing all iframe content and working to ensure each frame includes appropriate title attributes to accurately convey its purpose.
  • In some cases, functionality that is operable via mouse is not fully accessible via keyboard alone. Specifically, the close button within the widget modal is not yet operable using keyboard navigation. We are actively working to improve this element to ensure that all interactive components can be accessed and used without a mouse.
  • Form validation messages within the widget may also fall short of accessibility best practices. While visual cues (such as red highlighting) are presented when invalid input is detected (e.g. an incorrect email address), no accompanying text is currently provided. We are implementing updates to include clear, textual error messaging for better accessibility and guidance.
  • Additionally, modal dialogs within the widget present limited support for assistive technologies. While most buttons and form fields are accessible via keyboard, closing the modal using keyboard-only navigation is not currently supported. Although this does not block core functionality of the site, we recognize this may still affect user experience and are assessing ways to enhance modal accessibility.

Booking engine:

  • We are aware that some images on our booking engine currently lack descriptive alt-text. Due to technical limitations within the platform, additional development is required to fully address this issue. We are actively working with our technology provider to implement a solution and ensure compliance with accessibility standards as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
Disproportionate burden

There are currently no exemptions claimed under the disproportionate burden provision.

Content not within the scope of applicable legislation

Once printed, PDF documents (such as menus or brochures) fall outside the scope of digital accessibility legislation, as their accessibility features cannot be preserved in physical format.
